FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THE PENTAGON -
Lt. Gen. Jeffrey W. Talley, Chief of Army Reserve and Commanding General, U.S. Army Reserve Command, and Ms. Suze Orman, award-winning personal finance expert, signed a four-year gratuitous services agreement that will strengthen soldiers’ financial readiness through an informational video series, town hall discussions, base visits, and written material. They will address savings goals, investments, creditworthiness, debt elimination, the Department of Defense’s newly-developed retirement system, and other questions and concerns facing soldiers and their families throughout different stages of their personal and professional lives.

"Financial awareness is so important because it helps soldiers and their families develop higher levels of individual readiness, which helps them to be better leaders and succeed in their missions at home and abroad," said Talley.

"In life, you’re never really powerful until you’re powerful over your own money," said Orman. "I believe this partnership will add financial strength to the men and women serving in the Armed Forces, helping them build their own financial security that will carry them into the future."

Soldiers and their families will be notified of related events and services through social media channels, web sites owned by the Army Reserve and Suze Orman, and other outlets. One video has been produced to-date and is available here.

A gratuitous service agreement allows a person or organization to provide expertise without expectation of compensation, financial benefit, or reimbursement in any manner for providing those services.

The Army Reserve’s mission is to provide trained, equipped, and ready soldiers, leaders, and units to meet America’s requirements at home and abroad. It consists of approximately 200,000 highly-skilled members in 148 career fields providing life-saving and life-sustaining forces for Joint Force operations.
